People who want to lose weight quickly often look for a diet. And the idea of losing a few kilos quickly and in a targeted manner with a diet is naturally tempting. However, while waiting for results you should play buffalo king.
Unfortunately, however, this is often followed by the yo-yo effect. Those who restrict themselves for a limited period continue to eat as before after the diet and quickly put the pounds back on. “Flash diets remain without lasting success.
In 2016, US scientists discovered that participants in the popular weight-loss show “The Biggest Loser” were not only fatter six years after the show than they were shortly after the show but that their bodies were resisting the weight loss: all participants’ basal metabolic rate – the energy that the body uses regardless of exercise and sport – had fallen during the show and was still significantly lower six years later.
The – certainly somewhat sobering – state of science is therefore: that most diets do not seem to work sustainably or be particularly healthy for our bodies.
Even if you are overweight and your health is suffering because of your weight, there are better and healthier ways to lose weight naturally than a quick diet.
HEALTHY AND NATURAL WEIGHT LOSS IS POSSIBLE
Natural weight loss through a general change in diet is better than any restrictive diet. You don’t have to change your diet overnight. Instead, you can gradually change a few small things. You will see that it’s very easy to make your life and your diet a little bit healthier, more mindful, and more sustainable.
You are what you eat
Conscious enjoyment is not just about being mindful of your body when eating, you can also take a mindful (and sustainable) approach to your food choices. After all, your choice of food not only affects you, but also the environment. Organic quality, regional and seasonal fruit and vegetables, fair trade products, and less meat and other foods of animal origin are good for you and your conscience, but also for the environment.
Lose weight naturally: Don’t eat anything your grandma wouldn’t have eaten
What is known as the clean eating trend is little more than a completely natural, healthy wholefood diet – just with an English name and expensive cookbooks on top.
A nice mnemonic from this trend: “Don’t eat anything your grandmother wouldn’t recognize as food”. Microwave lasagne, frozen pizza or dumplings from an aluminum can – they have little to do with a healthy, balanced diet.
Eat as much fresh, unprocessed food as possible, without additives and preferably organic, and cook it yourself: This helps with natural and healthy weight loss. It’s not always easy, but it’s also not always difficult to implement.
Lose weight healthily: Best without stress!
Is your best friend giving up sugar? Does your brother eat according to clean eating guidelines? You’re trying to stick to the 5-a-day rule, which requires you to eat five portions of fruit and vegetables – but you haven’t managed it for two days in a row?
Not so bad. You probably already have enough other stress in your everyday life. So don’t let other people’s plans or your ideals stress you out. Even if you’ve only eaten an apple and a carrot, that’s (much!) better than no fruit and vegetables at all.
