Manchester City
Following last season’s success Pep got off to a quick start by bringing in Norwegian striker Erling Haaland following his success at Borussia Dortmund, and 2 more signings are expected. These additions should take the current Premier League Champions to the next level and likely to retain the Premier League with a place in the top 4 almost guaranteed, they will likely feature in everyone’s Premier League Top 4 Prediction.
Liverpool
Despite last season’s efforts in the Premier League and Champions League both concluding with the Reds being ‘second-best’, Klopp will go again looking to retain the domestic cups but go one step further in the Premier League. Despite Liverpool not quite having the funds of their title rivals, they have similarly made a quick start in the transfer window with Darwin Nunez set to join the already competitive front three.
Chelsea
With most action so far taking place away from the pitch but instead in the boardroom it will be interesting to see how Chelsea copes with the takeover and how their spending changes. Most talk so far has been on players departing such as Rudiger and Christensen away and Lukaku’s future uncertain. However, with Tuchel being considered one of the best coaches in the world it would be surprising to see Chelsea drop out of anyone’s Premier League Top 4 Prediction.
Tottenham Hotspur
With Conte securing Champions League Football for Spurs and also his future, the transfer window could make or break their season. The aim will be to hold on to Kane and Son, the devastating and record-breaking partnership. On top of this Conte will look to add wingbacks, Perisic has already signed up with more on the horizon.
Arsenal
The Gunner’s 2021/22 season was up and down and they would have been disappointed to miss out on Champions League football, especially to their rivals. As is the nature of a young squad, the lack of experience may have cost them but Arteta will continue with a young team who are constantly improving and hope to add to this in the window.
Manchester United
Erik Ten Hag is set to take charge of United for the 2022/23 season with the aim of bringing the Premier League home to the 13x winners. However, with a squad with performances described as ‘shameful’, a lot of work has to be done before any real challenge can be expected from the Red Devils. Despite numerous players rumoured, nothing concrete has been completed so far making it hard to predict Manchester United next season.
Final Thoughts
Despite Arsenal and Manchester United being expected to improve from last season, it would be a surprise to see a change in the Top 4 next season. Ten Hag will likely need longer than a season to break the top 4 and Arteta’s youthful squad may just lack the experience to overtake the tactics of the world’s best managers. It would not come as a surprise again to see Manchester City and Liverpool run away from the rest of the league again making for another exciting title race. Other teams to watch out for include the mega-money backed Newcastle, David Moyes’ impressive West Ham and Leicester City who are able to focus on the league again away from European distraction.
Our Premier League Top 4 Prediction is:
- Manchester City
- Liverpool
- Chelsea
- Tottenham Hotspur
However, as we all know football never goes as expected so watch out for newcomers Bournemouth, Fulham and Nottingham Forrest who could play a part in the fight for the top 4 alongside all the other action.
Fixtures will be released on Thursday 16th June at 9 am (BST) before the season starts on August 6th which gives you plenty of time to find out the matches you’ll be watching and decide on a set-up.
