Vape juice normally tastes pretty great, but you’re definitely not going to feel that way if your vape leaks juice in your mouth. When a vaping device shoots droplets of e-liquid into your mouth, it’s also called spitting because of the wet sensation that you feel when the droplets touch your tongue. It’s not a very pleasant situation when your vape spits, and there are three reasons for that.
- When a vape spits e-liquid into your mouth, it’s often accompanied by a loud popping noise that many people find annoying.
- Although vaporized e-liquid tastes great, the juice itself doesn’t because the flavor is much too concentrated.
- When your vape leaks juice in your mouth, it can sometimes be very hot and may actually be painful.
With those three things in mind, it’s very understandable that you’d want to fix a spitting live resin vape cartridges as quickly as possible – and the good news is that this problem is usually surprisingly easy to fix. Grab that bottle of Candy King and get ready to enjoy it more fully than ever, because we’re going to explain how to fix your spitting vape.

You’re Using a Vape Coil with an Obsolete Design
If you’re using an older device or an older vape tank, there’s a good chance that fixing your spitting vape is as easy as buying some new hardware because any tank or device that’s more than a year or two old is now completely obsolete by modern standards. That’s because the atomizer coils in older vaping devices are made from spiral-wound wires. A round wire doesn’t lay flat against the wick when it’s placed in an atomizer coil assembly, and e-liquid tends to pool in the lower portions of the wire. That causes uneven heating when you use your device, and that’s why your vape leaks e-liquid into your mouth.
In recent years, traditional wire-based vape coils have been replaced by a new style of coil that uses a mesh strip as its heating surface. The mesh strip has a flat profile when it’s rolled into a cylinder, and that prevents the vape juice from forming pools. Mesh coils don’t pop when they’re used, and they don’t spit e-liquid into your mouth. They also tend to generate bigger clouds than traditional coils while drawing less power. Mesh coils are dramatically better than traditional coils in every possible way, and that’s why virtually all vaping devices and tanks now use them. If you’re not already using a device with a mesh coil, it’s time for you to upgrade. In most cases, simply using a modern vaping device is all that you need to do in order to stop getting vape juice in your mouth permanently.
You’re Vaping at a Power Setting That’s Too Low
If you’re already using a modern vaping device – and it’s still leaking e-liquid into your mouth – you’ll need to do a bit of troubleshooting to determine the cause of the problem. If you use a vaping device with adjustable power, the first thing you should do is look at your device’s wattage setting and compare it to what’s recommended for the coil that you’re using. Every atomizer coil has a certain power range in which you can expect it to operate reliably without producing a burnt flavor. When you buy a box of coils, you’ll see the suggested wattage range on the box. The coil itself is also usually marked with its resistance and wattage range.
Setting your vaping device to a wattage within the suggested range for your coil isn’t just important because it helps you avoid a burnt flavor. It’s also important to avoid vaping at a wattage below your device’s suggested range because a vape coil can’t work efficiently if it doesn’t have enough power. If your device’s wattage is set too low, the coil will have trouble producing vapor, and e-liquid will begin to pool inside the coil assembly. When that happens, the vape juice will eventually leak into your mouth. You can resolve this by increasing your device’s wattage until it stops spitting.
Vape Juice Is Condensing in Your Tank’s Chimney
Even if you’re using a modern vaping device and are vaping at the correct wattage for your coil, it’s still possible for your vape to leak juice into your mouth if e-liquid condenses inside your tank’s chimney. Eventually, the droplets will run back down to the coil and form a pool. When that happens, your device will pop and spit vape juice into your mouth. If you begin to feel droplets hitting your tongue when you vape – and the vapor feels wetter than usual – it’s likely that your device’s tank is having difficulty managing the condensation. Thankfully, there’s a very easy resolution for this. You can remove the condensation by twisting a paper towel into a tight cylinder and running it down your tank’s mouthpiece. It’ll absorb the condensation, and then you can resume vaping as normal until you begin to notice droplets on your tongue again.
A few vape tanks mitigate the issue of condensation by using “self-cleaning” coils that absorb and vaporize droplets of excess e-liquid. If condensation is a persistent problem for you, it might be worthwhile to look for a tank with this design.
You’re Using a Defective Coil
If you begin to read about vaping on Reddit and other discussion forums, one of the first things you’ll notice is that the vaping industry is definitely not immune to defective products. Distributors occasionally receive shipments of faulty coils, and those coils eventually end up in consumers’ devices. If you have a vape tank that constantly leaks juice into your mouth regardless of what you do, it’s possible that you’re not doing anything wrong and that your tank actually has a faulty coil. You might find it helpful to check the vaping forums and see if other people are reporting the same problem. If so, try buying a new box of coils from a different source and see if your tank begins to operate more reliably.
